The Kikkerland "Collapsible Travel Chopsticks" are surprisingly well made and convenient for such an inexpensive set. I also have two sets of Snow Peak Carry-on Chopsticks, but do not always remember to carry them along so was looking for good sets to keep in my cars. These Kikkerland Chopsticks come in a serviceable plastic case that includes a nice low profile pocket clip, so it is easy to carry them in shirt or pants pocket.

The chopsticks bodies are a very light metal with wooden tips. Each chopstick is two individual pieces, a hollow handle and the "pointy end", that assemble to a normal length for use or can be disassembled and the "pointy end" stored in the hollow handle. The connection is purely friction held and my only real concern about these is that they will loosen up over time.

I washed these before first using them and then after each use to make sure they are always ready when I need them.

I was extremely excited about these chopsticks when I ordered them. I wanted to use these chopsticks as a way to be "green" by avoiding wooden chopsticks at restaurants. When I received the chopsticks, I noticed that the silver part was peeling before I even used them so I requested a replacement from Amazon. When I got the second pair, they seemed fine so I washed them and used them right away. I thought they were pretty good although I wish that wood part went a little higher up for things like noodles because when I ate Pho, the metal part was also submerged. After two uses, the silver started peeling on the new pair also. Another downfall with collapsible chopsticks is the chore of cleaning them. I washed these and dried them thoroughly but when I opened them to use the second time, there was mold on the chopstick because it was still a little moist. I made sure to clean and dry them because I put them in but it still wasn't dry enough. I really wanted to like these chopsticks but they just did not function properly.

I got two different molds at the same time, and ended up liking this one much better. There is a kind of slightly bumpy texture on the inside that helps the rice slide out easier, which is great for someone as ham-handed as I am. It was my first time trying anything like this, and my onigiri turned out good enough to send to school with my kid.
